Estramay Aleph is
the third release from the UK band Void Construct. I would define the album as electro
EBM - VERY electro, but that is definitely not a bad thing. Void
Construct have put together a simple album, that has a very grand
sound. Even though there are only 3 to 4 layers on the whole, it does not
take away from any song. Each song is filled with a raw energy that makes me think they would be an amazing band to see play live. The movie samples are
perfectly placed (even the excerpt from Alien:Resurrection), the best
being excerpts from Pi in the song "Construct". Unlike most industrial bands
that seem to struggle to put together a solid album from start to
finish, this one stands out, hands down. There are no weak points
on this album.
One of
the most noticeable things about this album is that the songs start
slow, build up to a crescendo, and release with a near orgasmic
intensity. This is not to say they cannot slow it down. When they
do, like in "Construct", you do not want it to end. I have had this
album for about 5 years now and it has not been out of my regular
rotation for more than 3 months. This is a very harsh album but very
enjoyable. This album is a definite must in any industrial/ EBM
collection.
